This is quite an impressive bit of research from Durham University commissioned by The Sutton Trust and brought to our attention by those nice people at Campaign for Learning.

If you are going to spend that precious Pupil Premium money in a way that will make a difference (and save some vestiges of pride for the Lib Dems) then what can you do that will both make a diffference but also make the money go further? The research shows that the top three are not rocket science (but nor are they on the government agenda):

  1. Effective feedback
  2. Metacognition an
  3. Learners supporting learners.
