This is from a recent conference in the US attended by education minsters from the OECD (and yes, Gove was there) and shows, amongst other things, that teachers are looking for many things to help them be their best of which money is just a part.


Opportunities for collaboration, opportunities for professional development, opportunities for involvement in interesting things…


The slide entitled ‘Teacher Policies’ is very telling too. What used to work such as ‘Routine cognitive skills for lifetime jobs’, ‘Taught to teach established content’… needs to change – has changed in the effective education system – to policies such as ‘Learning to learn complex ways of thinking…’ and ‘High-level professional knowledge workers’.
